Martens were engaged in the geotechnical investigations for a proposed 15 storey mixed-use development, including 1 basement level, at 209 Castlereagh Street, Sydney, NSW.

Martens were engaged in the geotechnical investigations for a proposed 15 storey mixed-use development, including 1 basement level, at 209 Castlereagh Street, Sydney, NSW.

The investigation scope included:

  • Drilling of boreholes using a truck-mounted drill rig, including NMLC rock coring in interbedded siltstone / shale and sandstone up to 14.8m depth
  • Field testing including standard penetrometer testing in the soil profile
  • Point load testing of rock core samples to assess rock strength
  • Provision of a report presenting assessment results and advice and recommendations for design and construction works
  • Advice during construction associated with risk of collapse of exposed excavations and/ or work platform embankments
  • Confirming, or recommending additional works to ensure, that exposed foundation conditions accommodate design assumptions
