Martens has carried out a geotechnical investigation undertaken to assess the stability and suitability of site conditions for a proposed electrical sub-station required for power supply to a newly constructed residential apartment block located at 48-76 Wentworth Park Road, Glebe, NSW. The sub-station required rock excavation and construction of a concrete founding slab.

Our scope of works included:

  • Rock mapping and sample collection
  • Laboratory rock strength testing
  • Geotechnical risk assessment for the proposed excavation
  • Stability analysis using SLIDE modelling software considering existing conditions, the proposed excavation extent, working surcharge loads imposed by adjacent structures and earthquake induced loading
  • Provision of a report presenting assessment results and advice and recommendations for design and construction works, including monitoring programs
