Martens were engaged to prepare a detailed hydrogeological assessment to support an Environmental Assessment (EA) associated with the proposed deepening of extraction areas to -40 mAHD at Bass Point Quarry, Bass Point, NSW.
Martens were engaged to prepare a detailed hydrogeological assessment to support an Environmental Assessment (EA) associated with the proposed deepening of extraction areas to -40 mAHD at Bass Point Quarry, Bass Point, NSW.
A range of data, such as rock core logs, vibracore logs, hydraulic testing results and monitored groundwater levels were utilised to develop a conceptual hydrogeological and subsequent numerical groundwater MODFLOW model, to assess the impact of deepening extraction areas.
Bass Point Quarry extracts hard rock (primarily latite) to produce construction grade aggregate for a range of uses and is situated adjacent to the Tasman Sea, South Pacific Ocean, Shellharbour, NSW. The quarry is also situated adjacent to Killalea Lagoon, which presented the key hydrogeological issue requiring assessment.
