Martens and Associates were engaged to undertake a detailed water sensitive urban design and associated water quality modelling to support concept plan approval for a large urban development in Tea Gardens, NSW. The development comprised a proposed 855 new dwellings, 50 tourist lodges and 15 tourist houses, in a sensitive coastal zone bounded by the Myall River – which is subject to tidal inundation and contains designated SEPP 14 wetlands.
Detailed water quality (MUSIC) modelling was undertaken to develop a stormwater quality treatment train that was sympathetic to the environment, practical for the developer and achieved neutral or beneficial water quality impacts, when compared to ambient conditions.
Project scope included:
Ongoing consultation and collaboration with the Department of Planning and Environment.
