Core R&D Areas

martens are involved in a number of R&D areas including:

Wastewater Management

For 10 years, martens have undertaken in-house research projects relating to a number aspects of wastewater management.  These have led to numerous publications and industry conference presentations throughout Australia and New Zealand.  As a consequence, martens have recognized as an industry leader in this field, maintaining key resources in the following areas:

  Technical standards for wastewater re-use

Design of small to medium scale sewage treatment plants

Development of treatment process monitoring schemes

Environmental impacts of wastewater management schemes

Stormwater / Water Sensitive Urban Design

Concurrent with its research into wastewater management systems, martens have undertaken in-house research into stormwater management systems.  Our primary research focus has been in the following areas:

  Stormwater quality monitoring

  Stormwater treatment processes

  Water cycle modeling

Sustainable Urban and Rural Water management

Geotechnical Engineering

martens geotechnical engineers are constantly developing and testing better and more efficient means of field testing for soil and rock properties.  We have developed new and extended existing technologies in a range of areas including:

Groundwater sampling

Sediment core retrieval

Vibra-coring

Publications (iNCOMPLETE)

martens make available a range of past in-house and public domain publications covering a range of topics.
