Martens and Associates were engaged to undertake a broad range of environmental engineering investigations to support a constraints assessment at Goodnight Island, Greenwell Point, NSW. The constraints plan was required to guide development planning for an ‘eco-tourist’ resort on the island.
Goodnight Island is situated near the mouth of the Crookhaven River and is located between the towns of Greenwell Point and Culburra, on the NSW South Coast. The general area around Goodnight Island is known for its oyster farming and other fisheries industries, which are highly sensitive to development.
The assessment included a desktop study of available literature, maps and Council data, followed by detailed site investigations. The constraints plan was prepared utilising Arc GIS and CAD software and included the following:
