Martens were engaged to prepare detailed civil works plans for a golf course and residential subdivision at Luddenham, in Sydney’s greater western region. Engineering services provided included:

• Soil and erosion control system design
• Soil and water management plan
• Stormwater management plan
• Water sensitive urban design
• Flood modelling
• Water cycle management plan
• Salinity management plan
• Sewage management plan

The proposed development was for 180 rural residential lots, an 18 hole golf course and associated infrastructure. Due to the location of the site, at the confluence of two creeks, a variety of assessments were required to ensure the development did not have a detrimental environmental impact. The scope of the soil and erosion control systems and management plans included:

• Assessment of soil erosion risk, with reference to local soil testing, topographical and environmental features
• Relocation of a creek tributary and design of associated soil management
• Recommendations and design for remedial works
• Site inspections and construction supervision
