Martens were engaged to provide expert engineering advice in relation to a NSW Land & Environment Court Appeal associated with a proposed agricultural college at Mangrove Mountain, NSW.

A key component of the advice included undertaking a groundwater nutrient impact assessment to verify that the proposed college’s onsite effluent system would not contaminate a downslope potable water supply (Mangrove Creek Dam).

Project scope included:

• Numerical groundwater modelling (MODFLOW NWT coupled to MT3DMS, a mass transport model) to assess the fate of leached (should this occur) total nitrogen, total phosphorous and faecal coliform
• Preparation of a joint statement of evidence
