Martens were engaged to prepare a traffic assessment for a residential rezoning and subdivision in Bargo, a small town south of Sydney. Additional traffic loads and traffic impacts due to the development were assessed, and local civil works and traffic control measures were recommended to improve impacts and improve the local road network.

The application involved rezoning the site from rural to low density residential and included up to 75 new lots. The traffic study formed part of the rezoning application, with the objectives of investigating likely traffic load implications, impacts and management options should the land be rezoned.

Project scope included:

• Traffic monitoring and assessment of existing traffic generation
• Characterisation of local traffic conditions
• Estimating development traffic generation
• Modelling and assessment of intersection and traffic load impacts
• Assessment of Council wide traffic network impacts
• Design of local road network treatment works and recommendations for local traffic controls
