Martens were engaged to prepare detailed civil works plans for a proposed commercial rezoning and development application in Tahmoor, a small town south of Sydney. Engineering services provided included:

• Traffic study
• Roundabout and internal road design
• 3D earthworks design
• Flood assessment
• Stormwater management plan
• Environmental site assessment
• Remedial action plan
• Salinity assessment

The proposed development represented a significant expansion of the local Tahmoor commercial and retail district, and included several stores, restaurants and a multi-level business centre. Engineering services were provided to firstly support an application to rezone the land from rural to commercial, and secondly to support a development application.

The scope of the traffic study included:

• Traffic monitoring and characterisation of local traffic conditions
• Estimating development traffic generation
• Modelling and assessment of intersection and traffic load impacts
• Assessment of Council wide traffic network impacts
• Design of local road network treatment works and recommendations for local traffic controls
• Design of internal road network and swept path analysis
