Martens were engaged to provide engineering design services for a 35 lot sub-division located at Picnic Point, NSW.

Martens were engaged to provide engineering design services for a 35 lot sub-division located at Picnic Point, NSW. The project used hydraulic data, modelling and site survey to design minimum water servicing requirements for 35 new dwellings.

Picnic Point is an urban area near to the Georges River in Sydney’s southern suburbs. The locality is largely urban residential development with some residual bushland along the river. This project consisted of the re-development of a previous quarry site for residential purposes.

Project scope for both Development Application and Construction Certificate stages of the development included:

  • Site reticulated water services design including fire-fighting supply.
  • Site reticulated sewerage services design.
  • Flood mapping and impact assessment.
  • Site stormwater management design including all drainage, OSD and water quality structures.
  • Site earthworks design.
  • Road design of internal roads and intersection with Thomas Street.
  • Site creek rehabilitation works design.
  • Site retaining structures.

  • Certifications of site works.

Specific scope for water supply servicing included:

  • Hydraulic (pressure and flow) design – including structural support design – of reticulated water mains, system manual and automated valves, control infrastructure and fire-fighting hydrants.
  • Consultation with Sydney Water to ensure system integration into wider supply network.
  • Provision of network plans and engineering specification to allow for construction of system.
